Following the events in a previous mini-series where he kills every hero in the Marvel Universe, this series features the character Deadpool on a quest to end his own existence by destroying literary archetypes of all kinds after entering the "Ideaverse" in a story written by Cullen Bunn and with art by Matteo Lolli and Sean Parsons. After being sent into the Ideaverse by the Mad Thinker and his team of villains, Deadpool meets and kills fictional characters such as Don Quixote, Ahab, Pinocchio, and the Headless Horseman, and following these deaths, he gets a brief glimpse of Marvel characters based on them also dying (Pinocchio becomes the Vision, as one example). Meanwhile, the Mad Thinker, realizing the danger to his own fictional existence, sends a message to Sherlock Holmes, who then gathers a group of heroes to help battle Deadpool. This team features Natty Bumppo, Mulan, and Beowulf. This is a distinctly different Beowulf than had appeared before in a Marvel title and only appears in a few panels. However, despite the brevity of his appearance, Beowulf is shown to be a towering figure in comparison to those around him and in his battle with Frankenstein's creature (who Deadpool has allowed to survive and now has as a partner), he pulls off the creature's arm before being killed himself.
